With over 10 years recruitment experience in Financial Services, Alex is responsible for managing JCW’s Risk & Governance teams focused on recruitment across the UK, BENELUX, Swiss and French markets.

 

Throughout his tenure he has successfully placed a number of candidates from AVP up to Executive level across Financial Services and has overseen successful volume recruitment projects and staff augmentation solutions. Alex continues to drive the growth of the European business, with a focus on expanding JCW’s footprint on the continent and is still heavily involved in day-to-day recruitment and client management.

What is the biggest problem your clients have when recruiting?

Quite often the biggest challenge my clients face is finding enough relevant candidates without having to compromise their list of requirements. This is particularly true in continental Europe where the candidate population is much smaller in comparison with the UK. Our clients traditionally tend to rely on advertising to bring on board candidates, but this never attracts the best applicants. Adverts only reach a small percentage of the candidate population, and more so only ‘active’ candidates who have specifically searched for their vacancy. What I can offer is access to a much larger candidate market, with more exclusive candidates who me and the team are actively tasked with approaching. This way you don’t have to compromise and you get a better pool of candidates to choose from.

What’s the most sought after skill set in your market at present?

I’d say it’s almost certainly client/customer onboarding experience and strong AML/KYC knowledge. Financial Crime is still such a huge topic and with continued pressure from European regulators, my clients are consistently looking to refine & develop their processes and recruit highly-capable talent in this area.

What are the values that drive you?

My reputation is everything, both internally and externally. If I commit to something then I intend to see if through, and I’d hope my long-standing clients can testify to the persistent and commitment I’ve shown, even with particularly tricky requirements/projects.
